The Archetype Heritage
The official, un-official version of the myth of the historically elusive Col. Angus

It all began one crisp November morning in 1878…
when Charles Angus stumbled upon an astonishing sight in his barn—a newborn child, abandoned in one of his horse stalls. Overwhelmed by the discovery, he quickly fetched his wife, Martha, who was gathering eggs in the chicken coop. Martha sensed something extraordinary about the child, feeling he was “exceptional” and a “gift from God.” With no children of their own, the couple decided to adopt the baby and named him Jacob.
By the age of four, Jacob had already shown an impressive aptitude for adventure and skill. One day, he picked up his father’s rifle and managed to hunt his first game. That buffalo season, young Jacob’s prowess provided enough meat to feed several families, showcasing his early talent for survival, precision and being an excellent provider.
At five years of age, Jacob had his first taste of whiskey. Unsatisfied with the spirits of the time, he began distilling his own. His remarkable creation quickly garnered a reputation, attracting visitors from far and wide eager for a taste. Despite his tender age, Jacob shared his recipe with a wandering drifter in need of a handout—a man who would later become known as Jack Daniel.
By age seven, Jacob’s full beard began to attract attention, particularly from women who were enamored with its rugged charm. Ever respectful of his elders, Jacob entertained the ladies with gentlemanly manners, much to his mother’s chagrin. His charisma and magnetic presence were already undeniable.

At fourteen, Jacob chose a life of adventure on the open sea. He traveled extensively, leaving an indelible mark on pirates, dignitaries, and women across the globe. His charm was legendary, and men everywhere aspired to emulate his allure. Back in the Southern states, his captivating presence earned him the moniker “Colonel” Angus—a title that epitomized gentlemanly charm and sophistication.

Throughout his lifetime and travels Col. Angus mastered numerous trades and disciplines. He was a skilled farmer, astute businessman, cartographer, philosopher, writer, land surveyor, musician, woodworker, blacksmith, inventor, alchemist,...
The list goes on.
